Hi everyone,

We have talked before about having a list of mentors who are willing to help
new volunteers with the process. Alisa and I have come up with a list of
questions to be answered to create the profile. Our thought is that we could
post those profiles on the blog (or in the mean time I would have them in a
word doc until the blog is up and running). A new volunteer could then read
those profiles and find someone who had similar interests and equipment. Since
people have brought up a privacy concern, we would NOT include emails in those
profiles, but rather, the new volunteer would email me and I would facilitate
the introduction between mentor and mentee. On a similar note, instead of
having full names, perhaps we could choose nicknames or user names?

I know some of you have already emailed me directly expressing interest, so
forgive me if this is redundant. I wanted to give everyone a chance to
participate now that we've thought through the idea a little bit more
thoroughly. Those who have already emailed me and answered most of these
questions can just answer the new ones and I can fill in the other info for you.

If you're interested, please answer the questions below and email me directly.

Mentor Profile

User/nickname:

Do you proof or scan? Or both?

What equipment do you us (type of scanner? Proofreading programs? Microsoft
word? What year? AT? Kurzweil? Abbyy? Other tools?)?

Are you OK with AC (adult content)?

What kind of books do you like to proof or scan (Romances? SciFi and fantasy?
Kids books? Nonfiction? Cookbooks? Poetry? Other?)?
*Note: please limit this to your top favorites and don't list 15 different
categories.

Are you OK with religious texts?

Do you prefer to communicate by phone or email?

Tell us something fun about yourself:

Any other comments?

I hope all the east coast people are surviving the storm and staying warm and
dry!

Best,
