Hi Dasha,

Currently, you can't share content in the way you're suggesting. Only one person can be the proofreader of a book at a time. Bookshare hopes to change that in the future, so books can be done a chapter at a time. Currently, the 10% limit is the amount of material that can be passed at a time directly from a person who has scanned a book and submitted it, and the person who has checked it out and is proofreading it. That happens when, for example, the person proofreading the book discovers that part of a chapter is missing, and the scanner can then send the proofreader those missing pages directly. Sometimes when a page is missing, and the original scanner can't get the book again or isn't available, a volunteer other than the original scanner will find the book in their library, and scan it for the proofreader. But other than those kinds of situations, volunteers cannot share scanned or proofread material with each other, because of the laws that govern copyright.

What you might ask for on this list is if someone will scan a short book for you, like a middle-school level, or a short children's first chapter book, to proofread. Then you can dip your toe into the proofreading waters without something that feels overwhelming. smile.

I do appreciate the help it's true. Unfortunately, we still need somebody to
scan it. Maybe when ever it comes up and somebody can scan it we can work on
proofing together? I'm a newbie at it and would really appreciate the help even
though I know we can't pass large blocks of text back and forth that is if it's
more than 10%.

Hi,
I'd be interested in proof reading with help from you guys if somebody else
could scam. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner here and the only thing I
can do as a result is proofreading. But as I say if someone is willing to
scan them I'm quite willing to take a shot at proofreading. Thanks,
DR

Hi all,

Is there anyone who would be interested in scanning books by historical /
fantasy author, Marie Brennan? She has two on Bookshare now, the second
novel in her Onyx Court series, In Ashes Lie, and her novel Warrior, which
has a companion novel entitled witch. I'd be interested in seeing her
other Onyx Court novels listed, Midnight Never Come (the first in the
series), A Star Shall Fall, and With Fate Conspire. I've read her first
two Onyx Court novels from NLS, and really enjoyed them.

Our recent mentions of fantasy titles here on the list prompted me to
bring these up. certainly others may enjoy them, as well, particularly if
you enjoy historical fiction or British history, in addition to fantasy.

If I find them myself for a reasonable price, I'll be happy to scan. Or
I'll certainly be delighted to proof. Will request these to the wish
list, as well.

Warmest,
Kim
