Okay Kim, I finally got this to work.

Here's how to move and select text in a nutshell.

Move One Character Left LEFT ARROW
Move One Character Right RIGHT ARROW
Move One Word Left CTRL+LEFT ARROW
Move One Word Right CTRL+RIGHT ARROW
Move to Beginning of Line HOME
Move to End of Line END
Move One Paragraph Up CTRL+UP ARROW
Move One Paragraph Down CTRL+DOWN ARROW
Move to Top of Next Page CTRL+PAGE DOWN
Move to Top of Previous Page CTRL+PAGE UP
Move to Beginning of Document CTRL+HOME
Move to End of Document CTRL+END
Scroll Up or Down One Screen PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN

Select One Character Left SHIFT+LEFT ARROW
Select One Character Right SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW
Select One Word Left CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT ARROW
Select One Word Right CTRL+SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW
Select to Beginning of Line SHIFT+HOME
Select to End of Line SHIFT+END
Select to Beginning of Document CTRL+SHIFT+HOME
Select to End of Document CTRL+SHIFT+END
Select All CTRL+A
Undo CTRL+Z

Delete Current Character DELETE
Delete Prior Character BACKSPACE

Notice that all the commands to select something contain a press of the shift key, except "select all" which is control+a.

I tried copying the extensive set of keystrokes from the jaws help manual, but alas it didn't work.

Look under your jaws help for "Windows Keystrokes for Working with Text" and you'll find more than you really want to know.

Hi, Bob, okay, dumb question number two. How do you select what you want to
mess with-er-improve? Regards, Kim.

I think in word you use control ] to increase the font size. Don't forget to
select the part you want increased first.

Control plus [ will decrease the font size.

headings

Hi, how do you instruct the computer that you want only the headings
to have 16-point type in the font style as opposed to the rest of the
text, i.e., the body of a chapter, etc. I'm reading a book using my
BrailleNote as a Braille display and Jaws is giving me information in
Microsoft Word 2003.
Right now, I'm doing a read-through of the whole book first so I can
see if all the text is okay. I didn't want to mess with headings until
I read the whole book. I looked at the style and this book is science
fiction with no parts in the text, just chapters in Times New Roman
14-point font style while the body of the text is in Times New Roman
10-point font style. I hope this helps you in answering my question.
This is the second book I'm proofreading, and I like the story. I
don't wish to mess with the submitter's work. Thanks for your help.
Regards, Kim.

Not quiet.

First, the bolding doesn't matter.
Secondly, the chapter heading also needs to be in 16 point.

Hi Lori!

Good question that I didn't think of.

The book I'm proofing now has the chapters like this:

CHAPTER 1

Chapter title

I thought that bolding the first line and sizing at 16 point would be
sufficient. Am I correct?

Hi,

I'm assuming that Part I and Part II, etc in books should be treated
as a heading and should have a different size font than the chapters. That makes sense to me. My question is, if there is a title under the
Part I does the information below the Part I also need to be in the
alternate size font and bolded?

Thanks,
Lori M.
