I am sorry to hear that a bunch of volunteers are leaving the list due to the traffic. The only way I can keep up with the list to sort messages by conversation and delete entire threads that do not interest me or threads that are going on too long. We lose something by them leaving such as knowledge, what they're scanning and their willingness to scan books that people request. Perhaps we should think before responding to a message. Or at least read all the message first because chances the question has already been answered.
Just my 2 cents. ***** GracePlease sponsor me in the march for independence, Walk for Opportunity in Dallas Texas. Any amount will help, no matter how small.

Unfortunately, I, too, will be leaving the volunteer discussion list. Usually, requests, especially from multiple list members, to limit the number of messages by staying on topic, reading through all messages and responding once to a thread, and not repeating things already mentioned byother list members, works to make the list manageable again. However, basedon the less than mature responses I received both on and off list after my last request, and given that the volume of messages is still very high, Ithink I'd prefer to volunteer off list for a while. When this is the choiceof more than a few of us as is the case presently, you really need to stop and evaluate just how it is that you are contributing to BookShare. Just too much traffic most of whichI delete. Those who feel that a volunteer should be required to be on this list might want to give some serious thought to the ammount and quality of posts that have been coming across the list as of late. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of liz halperin Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2008 7:53 PM To: maithe007@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] from liz in Portland, also signing off Maithe, Just as your post came in I was on version 3 of "I'm leaving thelists." Still don't have a version I like, but am almost there anyway. It'sa time sucker, no matter how I filter the threads, digest or not, delete away, amongst other issues. But then I think I'd lose out on finding validators, whether books are being already scanned, etc. Then I remember that I functioned perfectly fine for about 3 years without being on thislist and still scanning away. Now all this about twittering is yet more time sucking. And all that without even spending time on the Friends of BS pages!Yeah, that's it. Just too much--I'd rather be scanning and reading and editing. If something major happens, it'll show up on the Bookshare home page. Well, this note to you just became my farewell post itself, smile. I'll be unsubbing in the morning, so I can follow some threads tonight.Y'all know where to find me: in Portland with GDB puppy guide extraordinaireAziza Liz Halperin at lizzersagain@xxxxxxxxxxx Liz Halperin Portland, OR lizzersagain@xxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxput the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
