Without seeing more of the page or seeing the book itself, so I can get the 
context, my guess would be that the sentence should read "And as far as we [or 
I] can tell, we maintain that natural capacity as long as we do any of the 
others."

The book isn't available in any of my libraries. Can you send me a jpeg or 
picture of the page?
