I am not uninstalling Kurtzweil. In my case, I am installing it on another computer and want to take my old settings with me. After using backup, what file do I move to the new computer?

There's something about this that I don't understand. If you uninstall
Kurzweil, how does it keep the same settings if you put another version on
later? Take care.

Well, then, if you're getting a new machine, definitely use the back up settings item in the settings menu. Install your v9 and then use its restore settings, found in the same menu, to put all your settings onto the new machine. That includes spell check and corrections lists. No need to go hunting for all the stuff. If you use those two items, back up and then restore, the program will do it for you. As for an aggregate dictionary for ranked spelling, with contributions from many, the issue I guess I see with that is that people may not want everything that others have put into their dictionaries. But the original corrections lists were compiled in this way. They took corrections from people and I'm not sure where else and compiled that into the corrections list that shipped with the product back when that feature was first introduced. You could always write to Kesi and suggest that they could consider doing something similar for the spel check list. And I also do have confirmation that all that stuff that is saved in various places under documents and settings, user name etc, is not overwritten by a new installation, nor is it zapped if you uninstall the product. So if you do put v9 over b8, or if you uninstall v8 before installing v9, your user created or user enhanced stuff should still be there. Mary
