Time and again, I have excitedly downloaded a knitting book, only to find that all the patterns are in charts, and are not part of the text. It's very frustrating. I don't know if describing knitting charts is a good use of Bookshare's image-describing resources, but I mention it. And if anyone is considering scanning a knitting book, I wouldn't discourage you, but please consider if any of the patterns will be usable before you put in the work. I'd be happy to discuss how to get around the chart problem with anyone interested, offlist. I've got a book of general patterns, and I've taken to creating my own using those templates. But it would be nice to be able to use someone else's patterns, too.
