There you go. These are some of the things you want to include when asking
a question: JAWS 6.0, XP, Office 2003, and OpenBook 7.0. You might not need
to mention all of them every time, but it doesn't hurt to give more
information than needed.
I'm glad you got your problem worked out.
I did notice one thing that was confusing in this message, and want to
caution you about doing it in case the first thing you wrote was correct.
From what you said below, you named your file RTF. RTF is a common file
extension since it is a popular file format, and you don't want to name a
file RTF since it might cause problems with Windows or Word. Name it
something .RTF, like Something.RTF <Smile>. It sounds like you may have not
renamed it, though, but left it as it was already named since you said that
Jaws identifies the file as The Orphan Game A novel f1rtf Microsoft word.
Again, good luck with your validation, and also with your learning curve.

Thank you for giving your attention to my question. I'm sorry I didn't tell
you the whole story. I'm afraid part of the problem is that I don't really
understand what I'm using. I'll list what I do know and maybe you can tell
me what more I need to find out.
Jaws - six point o
Windows XP
Office 2003
When I downloaded the book for Validation, I put it in a folder in my
documents called Validation in progress. The file was called RTF Maybe when
I named it, I should have put some kind of file extension after the title,
but I wouldn't know what it should be.
I know I have something called notepad.
I also have Open Book seven point o.which I really don't know how to use
The book is The Orphan Game and I think Carrie scanned it.
When I tab between programs I have open, Jaws identifies the file as The
Orphan Game A novel f1rtf Microsoft word. I'm not sure if it was Microsoft
word before I entered normal using Sharon's instructions.
Anything you can tell me about which parts of this information are pertinent
or anything else I should know will be appreciated.
