Hi Marilyn, No, italicized quotes are still just regular quotes. If you want to know if you have any smart quotes in an RTF file while using Microsoft Word, search for ^u8220 and ^u8221 (opening and closing smart quotes). If you find any, merely replacing them in the file won't work. They'll be flipped back to smart quotes. The way to solve this is: First go to Tools on the toolbar, then Autocorrect Options, and hit the tab AutoFormat. Once there, uncheck "Straight quotes to smart quotes". You'd think this would be enough, right? Wrong! You have to go to Tools, then Autocorrect Options, and hit the tab AutoFormat As You Type. Once there, uncheck "Straight quotes to smart quotes". Now do the 2 global replaces (changing ^u8220 and ^u8221 to ") and all the smart quotes are gone. I haven't heard that Engineering has fixed this problem, so we'll see if they've taken care of it when the next release comes around. Are italicized non-smart quotation marks being picked up as smart quotes? They're not curly, but they are slanted, so I was wondering...
