Mayrie, Your comment about possibly the light near edge of the scanner made me think. Gwen, try opening the book to the page you want to scan and place it in the middle of the scanner if you can. Press firmly on the spine of the book, do preview. Move the outline to surround the page and not cut off any words--Then hit scan. And try not to move the book. rtin. That's sometimes hard to do. f course all of this might be hard to do if you're blind. Do you or Bob have any sight? If that doesn't work, don't give up. Do the best you can and you and I can work together, if there's no hurry for the books to get into the collection.. To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009, 3:23 AM Hi Susan, It does sound like hands on might be the best help. You know, Gwen is not the only person this has happened to. I know a woman who was a brilliant person to train, but for whom scanning a single page at a time never has worked. I really have begun to wonder if maybe she has a strip of scanner that just isn't lighted by the light bar, right along the edge of the scanner. There are just so many things that could be the problem, and it is so hard and sadly frustrating for new volunteers. I know you guys have tried to help.. I know I'm trying to help. I know Gwen's trying to solve the problem. And isn't it just awful, that between the four of us that we can't figure this out? Hi, Gwen has the Book Edge scanner and Larry has discussed both one and two page modes with her as well as that some books just won't scan! Really, she needs someone to actuallly see what she is doing about placement of the book, I think. I'm sorry we're in Texas and she's in Kansas, I think it is! Again Mayrie thanks for your help and all you do for Bookshare. Susan
