[bksvol-discuss] Re: How to Change Your Account So A Nickname Appears on Books You've Scanned or Proofed

Hi, Judy, thanks a lot. I'm of two minds about some of this because I want
to be able to write the submitter of a book I'm proofreading in case I have
problems with it. If I don't allow my email address to be there, how can the
submitter contact me? Regards, Kim.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] How to Change Your Account So A Nickname Appears
on Books You've Scanned or Proofed

Hi Kim (and everyone else who wants an anonymous presence after proofing or
scanning a book),

You can change your preference within your account so that a Nickname
appears on the bookshare website for the books you've scanned or proofread.

Here's how:

1. Sign into bookshare.

2. go to the volunteering tab within the "my account" area -- here's the
direct link:

http://www.bookshare.org/myVolunteering?tab=volunteering

3. the fifth field on that page is "Display nickname instead of real name
with books I have submitted/proofed." click the "yes"
radio button. Then, in the next field, which is "Nickname to Display for
submitted/proofread books" type in the nickname you wish to use.

Tab to the bottom of the page, and click the "save" button.

Voila! It will instantly be in place. A neat thing about this is that
enabling this option will automatically change to display your nickname
instead of your name on all the books you worked on that are already in the
collection.

4. Optional: the field on this page after the display nickname field lets
you allow or disallow the display of your email address for any books you've
proofread or scanned. So, if you don't want your email available to all
members, just click the "no" radio button for this option, and remember to
click the "save" button next.

That's it! smile.
