It would be too long if it was 50 words, since that would probably be over 200 characters, which would exceed the length limit for the short synopsis. Nobody looks at the submission form when the book is submitted. The software at Bookshare counts the number of characters and therefore can determine quickly and easily whether the total exceeds 200 characters. Counting is one thing computers can do very well. You can determine the number of words and characters in K1000, as well as MS Word and doubtless with WordPerfect as well. The length limits for both the short and long synopses are clearly stated on the submission form: 200 characters for the short synopsis, 500 words for the long synopsis.

You misunderstood me. I was not complaining about a 200 word cap. I was complaining because the total was under 50 when I was told it was too long. A cap at 50 would take a Basho and would not communicate the necessary information.
