Hello All, Kellie's assumption is correct. Duxberry adds more characters to the file in order for it to emboss. You can resave the file into formatted braille if you like with DBT. You need the program to do it. The cost may be prohibitive if you don't have it. Were it not for file exchange rules, I'd offer to resave files from DBT to BRF or BRL. Hi Reggie. I think that the extra characters you're seeing are caused by the fact that this is a DXB file, and that brf and dxb aren't exactly the same. These characters are probably there because they're meant to tell Duxbury things when you emboss, oh what splendid technical language I'm using! <lol!> Anyway, I'm not sure if Bookshare takes dxb files, I sort of think we don't. I wonder if Duxbury itself can be used to make regular brf files, but I don't know since I don't have it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful; I'd ask the BN list for you but I just left for the same reason you did. Kellie
