Hi, Jackie. You are technically right because the Bookshare page does encourage submission in ark or kes formats. The reality of the situation is that many of our volunteers don't have either program and rely on using Microsoft Word to validate books. In particular, we have a shortage of validaters for books done in Openbook format, and those books tend to hang around for months or even years before someone takes them. I don't like that, and I wish I could change it. My post was my attempt to let submitters know that rtf books generally get approved faster and why. I hope this makes sense and doesn't upset anyone who likes Openbook. I use Openbook and am one of the validaters who can process ark format books. However, I don't do sci fi or more violent books, and there are several books left sitting there because no one has stepped up to do them. I want to make submission rewarding for everyone.
