Amy please read this carefully. You cannot give your file to somebody directly. This has been repeatedly stated on this list by staff and other volunteers. Exchanging files among members directly (repeat directly) violates (repeat violates violates) the agreement you and all of us made with bookshare and goes against the legal agreements bookshare has made.

The proper procedure is to submit your kes copy of your book. Somebody will then take it and validate it. Hope this is the info you need. I am doing my best to spell it out. If I sound harsh I apologize. I just want the whole process to be as understandable as possible.

So just submit any kes books you have. Many of us have kurzweil and will be happy to validate them.

Hi friends,

I am hopefully resubscribed and I wote Jake begging him to take my Genji.kes file and give it to someone with K1000 to validate. It is matching page numbers with the paperback text - preliminary pages and text - with blank pages to keep it honest. I vaguely remember validating most if not all of the preliminary pages as well as a few pages of the Tale itself. If my memory is accurate than the worst of the job is finished as the text is pretty good with a few consistent errors I can clue a validater in on.

For some reason I lost the narrator on the Openbook with only 16 days to go and I had finally accepted the reality that there was no way I could get openbook to give me paragraph indentations. I think, if memory serves, the K1000 scan has everything that the book had Excepting the italics but the poetry could be set off so that it made up for the difference. Perhaps an rtf file in something other than wordperfect or wordpad could give one the italics. If you start with kes. you will be ahead of the game but all my rtf files went to wordpad for some reason.

I sent it to Jake in the hopes that one of you who has been as tempted by him as I was and will give it a nice home and be kind to him. Though I should say her for both the author and the translator were females which is as it should be. It is her tale about him so it is written from the female point of view.

Any help I can give feel free to ask but whomsoever adopts the tale probably won't need it. And while it is long, there will not be many corrections I hope so it is just the time to read that many pages. And I think you will find it as compelling as I have.

Amy
omst sending her child adrift.
