I just thought she might be kidding.Yes I was aware that the character label is caret, but I just didn't understand what she meant if she wasn't kidding. As I previously mentioned a ^ (caret) is just a token to indicate a control character. An easy way to test this is to go into an Rtf file that has already had all section breaks removed.
Skip down a line or 2 and enter ^b in the text. Now go back to the top of the document and hit a Ctrl-F for find and enter ^b in the search string.
I'll bet you won't find that ^b you entered in the text.Actually, you might be a bad risk as you're using a Mac and I don't know how their version of Word behaves.

Dave, Sue means a caret, c a r e t, . That's the word for the symbol ^ And carats for diamonds are spelled either c a r a t or k a r a t. Then, of course there's c a r r o t. But yes, the only karate I know is indeed an martial art. Or were you in fact asking tongue in cheek?
