Roger and others,
Sometime this summer, maybe beginning in July, I no longer got any notices of
books I scanned or proofed. I thought it might be some problem with Internet
Explorer so I started using Google Chrome. That hasn’t fixed the problem. I do
get notices of acceptances once the books are processed, just not the initial
message one used to get almost immediately upon submission.
I called about it and was told the browser might be the problem but it must be
a software issue. I’ve gotten used to it now though.
One thing I was very pleased with was that when the new volunteer manual came
out they made a full version available you could read like a book. I’m
old-fashioned and don’t like endless clicking on links so I was able to read
the manual easily and adapt to it quickly!
Happy New Year to everyone! I spent New Year’s Eve working on my first book for
2018!
One more thought in the way of a testimonial:
Once per year I travel with my partner to Europe or Mexico. In the past he did
all the studying about where we should go, what we should do, where to eat, etc.
Beginning in 2010 when I joined Bookshare as both a reader and a volunteer I
began to look for travel books like Rick Steves, Fodor, and Frommers. As a
result I am now able to jointly participate in the trip planning and I get much
more out of the trips as these books also have considerable detail about the
areas we visit.
Additionally, when he had a recurrence of prostate cancer, it was to Bookshare
I turned to get technical information. There were thirty books when I did my
research. I found a chapter just suited to his case. It was in a technical book
which not even the Chicago Public Library had. At the head of the chapter was
the contributor’s name and email. I wrote to him and asked where he would go if
he were in our situation. He wrote back within hours and gave us a referral.
How cool is that!
Again, happy new year and my apology for getting off-track!

I suppose you may as well return it and then check your spam folder. I have yet
not been notified when one of my scans enters the collection.

collection on Dec. 16; Tomoko Miles is listed as teh proofer. I've been
hanging on to the print book in case there were some corrections I needed to
make I guess it's safe to return it to teh library Cjndy
