What meat there was was surely delicious, but except for the smoked 
goose I bought once, I haven't cooked any since.

I had a similar experience with duck. Not as bad as
your with water and a broken dishwasher, but I love
duck--never had goose--and tried to cook one once. As
with your goose, after the fat drained there wasn't
that much meat. too much trouble for too little
delicious enjoyment.
