  Dear Bookshare Volunteers,

How could we let Thanksgiving come and go without acknowledging the wonderful
work you are all doing? I continue to be amazed at the volume and quality of
books that are added to the Bookshare collection each month by our committed
volunteers. As we continue to reach out to new volunteers, I appreciate the
continued support of our experienced scanners and proofers who willingly share
their wisdom and expertise with those who are just getting started. We could
not keep pace with the needs of our readers if not for all of your involvement.

On behalf of the entire Bookshare team, I wish you and yours a Happy
Thanksgiving! For your reading pleasure, I close with some Thanksgiving
thoughts shared by various well-known authors. Enjoy!

  Warmest regards,

  Brenda

  · Anne Frank - "I do not think of all the misery, but of the glory
that remains. Go outside into the fields, nature and the sun, go out and seek
happiness . Think of the beauty that again and again discharges itself within
and without you and be happy."

  · Ralph Waldo Emerson - "I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving
for my friends, the old and new."

  · E.P. Powell - "Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of
honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the
gratitude."

  · Jayne Austen - "Give us a thankful sense of the blessings in which
we live, of the many comforts of our lot; that we may not deserve to lose them
by discontent or indifference."

  · O Henry - "There is one day that is ours. Thanksgiving Day is the
one day that is purely American."

  · Cicero - "A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the
parent of all the other virtues."

  · John Greenleaf Whittier, "The Pumpkin" -
"Ah on Thanksgiving day, when from East and from West,
From North and South, come the pilgrim and guest,
When the gray-haired New Englander sees round his board
The old broken links of affection restored,
When the care-wearied man seeks his mother once more,
And the worn matron smiles where the girl smiled before.
What moistens the lips and what brightens the eye?
What calls back the past, like the rich pumpkin pie?"

  · Erma Bombech - Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare.
They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is
not coincidence.

  · Epictetus - "He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things
which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has."

  · Oprah Winfrey - Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having
more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have
enough.

  · John Henry Jowett - "Life without thankfulness is devoid of love and
passion. Hope without thankfulness is lacking in fine perception. Faith without
thankfulness lacks strength and fortitude. Every virtue divorced from
thankfulness is maimed and limps along the spiritual road."

  · Alexander Pope -
"Our rural ancestors, with little blest,
Patient of labour when the end was rest,
Indulged the day that housed their annual grain,
With feasts, and off'rings, and a thankful strain."

  · Ellen Degeneres - "I'm at that place where it's like, 'I can't get
any more goodness in my life.' ... I feel blessed every second. I go to bed
feeling blessed, and I wake up feeling blessed."

  · Irving Berlin - "Got no check books, got no banks. Still I'd like to
express my thanks - I got the sun in the mornin' and the moon at night."

  Happy Thanksgiving!
