Darrell, I can see that you haven't been shown how those of us with portable devices validate. (smile) I should have been more clear in my first message. Maybe this will help you save some time if you own a Stream or Book Port. I do the basics like strip headers, run rank spelling, and fix page numbers on the desktop computer. Then I load the file onto my Book Port and read the book through while I'm doing things like washing dishes or taking a walk outside. I read the book I'm working on with my Book Port, making a bookmark where I find an error. Once I'm back at the PC, I use those bookmarks to quickly help me find the text that needs to be fixed in the file on my computer. I fix those errors in about five minutes and upload the book to Bookshare. This process sounds more involved than it actually is. I like the freedom to move around while reading. My desktop PC is in my bedroom, and I feel restless when I have to just sit still and listen to the book to catch scannos that don't show up on rank spelling. With using my Book Port, I do a faster, better job of validating because I read every page now instead of just doing a spellcheck and spot checking the text. I actually catch errors like me where it should say the, something that rank spelling won't flag. I hope this helps. If I can clarify this in any way, please let me know. -- Monica Willyard Visit my blog at http://www.scannersguild.com To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
