Hi all,

Sorry about the garbage, I didn't do it, really I didn't! I don't know what's the trouble.

Hi all,

May I please make a plea for distinction between Science Fiction and Fantasy? There really, really should be a separate category for Fantasy. I notice that in the checkboxes for submission, there is a checkbox for "science Fiction & Fantasy". These are two separate genres.

Science Fiction is based on real scientific principles, real research and is an extrapolation of same into the future. Although Science Fiction includes time travel, the Fourth demension has actual basis in physics, and therefore is part of the exploration of science fiction. Alien races whose physical make-up are extrapolations of actual physical characteristics of planets is also Science Fiction.

The Weiss and Hickman books are fantasy, they are *not* Science Fiction. They include mythical creatures like dragons and elves and there is a magic element to them. Ra-aistlan (sp) is a magician. There is no such thing in Science Fiction. Sometimes, the border between these two genres is kinda fuzzy, but not with this book. Nope, Weiss and Hickman are most definitely Fantasy writers, not Science Fiction ones.

Sorry, but if folks are looking for Fantasy, they should find it in Fantasy, not in Science Fiction, and of course the reverse is true. If you're looking for Niven or Clarke or Asimov, you don't want to have to scroll by Weiss and Hickman, Nix, Rowling, Tolkien and so on to get there.

Original message:

Hi all. I’ve submitted two more books this morning – one Avon romance and one Sci-Fi from the wish list. Details follow. Per usual, don’t struggle with any scanning mysteries. Just send me a note about the offending text including the page number and I’ll rescan or get sighted help to figure it out.

(snip, snip)
The Sci-Fi from the wishlist: (Note, this is the second in this trilogy and the third will be coming your way soon.)

War of the Twins: Dragonlance Legends Volume 2, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

The fiery mountain struck Krynn. The gods shattered the Temple of Istar.

One hundred years later, the continent of Ansalon is a desolate land, its people struggling for survival in a world ravaged by plague, starvation, and war.

Escaping the doomed city of Istar, Raistlin—now a wizard of great power—casts a spell that brings his twin brother, Caramon, and the cleric, Crysania, forward to this point in time. Here, in the Tower of High Sorcery, Raistlin intends to enter the Portal and challenge the Dark Queen.

But, one by one, Raistlin's plans start to unravel.

Too late he discovers that he is caught in a time loop—one that must lead inexorably to his own destruction! One from which there seems to be no escape. ...

Happy validating!
