It is things like this that make me tempted to give up volunteering. I was scanning a 350 page book. I was about half-way through. I was scanning two pages at a time and carefully proofing each two pages before going on to the next two. That is, I had put a lot of work into it. I was just now calling it quits for the night and closing down Open Book when it froze up. After manipulating my keys a while I found out that I had an error page in front of me and I was being asked whether I wanted to send an error report or not. I clicked send and then checked to see if Open book had closed. It had, but since I had just finished clicking the save changes button I thought I had better check to be sure that the changes on the last two pages were actually saved. I opened up Open Book again and looked for my book. There was absolutely no sign of my document at all. I can't even find it in my recycle bin. It is as if I had never started scanning it.
