If it's possible to change the font on your device, couldn't you just change
the font to what it is supposed to be for BookShare standards? Then, if there
are questions, you can fix them as any proofer would do.
I have a braille display on my laptop, so I don't know what is possible and
what isn't on your device, so this might not work. Just sort of thinking out
loud.

Hi Kristen,
I have a Braillenote Apex, and have to admit that I haven't done this, but have
you read the manual sections on Word Processing? There are two chapters on it,
the basics in "03 Word Processor," and more advanced techniques in "07 Advanced
Word Processing." I haven't had need of using larger or smaller fonts, but I
know you can show bolding, italics and underlining.
I hope, over time, other methods than sending pages to others can be figured
out, since you would have to do that with every book you proof, and that will
be a rather long process for some books. But it might work for now.

Cindy--I would be proofreading using Braille, not scanning, which is why I am
looking for someone to assist with font.
Aidee--what is your e-mail address? I don't see it listed. Or, you can e-mail
me at kskristen@xxxxxxxxx Thanks for your offer!

Hello Kristen:
As Madeleine said, we can't send each other whole book files; the
parts where font is important are the title page (the page with the
title and author's name on it), and the first page of each chapter
and/or section-if your book has sections and chapters. The
BrailleNote generally keeps text at 12 points Times New Roman, which
is a good font and size for most sighted people.
If you don't have access to a computer with Word and a screenreader,
I would be happy to help you out. I would also be happy to help you
out if you need assistance in figuring out how to work with Word.
Either way, contact me off of the list.
Hope that helps.

Hi, Kristen! The easiest way to do this is probably going to bethe
moving
proofread file to your computer and finishing up in Word. You canbook
do searches for the word Chapter and go from there. Then just
upload the
from your computer. Hope this helps!Linares

Hi Kristen,
Legally we can't email entire book files. However, you could email
the pages where the font sizes need to be changed (the title page, them
pages with new chapters, etc.). They could email them back and you
could add
in.BrailleNote
Best,
Madeleine

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Formatting Assistance
Hi-
I just signed up to proofread for Bookshare. I will be using a
that, as far as I know, allows me to view/modify all elements offormatting
except for font size.I
I asked Madeleine how I could ensure that font size is adjusted to
the proper requirements and still submit professional, proofread
books since
cannot see font. She recommended that I reach out to other scannersmake
and proofreaders to see if there is anyone who would be willing to
assist me with this by adjusting the font to the appropriate sizes
for me before I submit a book.
I could e-mail someone the proofread book, if they would be willing
to
these adjustments with formatting and send it back to me to submitmy
under
name.of
Please let me know if anyone would be interested in helping, and if
so, provide your e-mail in the response. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
