Nancy, you're bringing up some good ideas and lines of thought. I appreciate your insights. I see 9 books on this old books list that I'd love to get to validate. (grin) They're in kes or wyn format, so I can't touch them. However, there are a lot of technical books too. What you may not know is that I'm one of the people on this list who likes reading about business strategies and even about economics to some extent. However, because I generally enjoy these books, I can still get burned out after awhile because of their focus on facts and information. I can't really say how much of the status of these books depends on their subject matter and how much is influenced by their format. I can tell you for sure that the 9 books I want to read would be validated by now or rejected if they're of poor quality. 4 of these books are mysteries, 4 are technical books, and there is one biography. If I can find a demo of Wyn, I'm going to tackle that biography ASAP. If not, I may get a copy of that book and scan it so I can read it. I'm not sure of what the Bookshare policy says if I were to submit my scan in rtf format, but I'll cross that bridge if I come to it. (smile)

Kellie,

Do you think that if the original scanner redid the book into RTF, that
there would be a big rush to knock out that old book list? Some how I
find it doubtful...I read over the list and kudos belong to anyone who
can validate those books...to me many of the books seem to be of a
technical nature and that could be another reason why those books are
languishing.

Do you think there are many of the original scanner folks around?

Thanks for your clarification.

Hi Nancy, If a submitter wants to resubmit one of his/her books in rtf, the procedure is that he/she reject the original proprietary format scan and resubmit an rtf copy. There's nothing wrong with doing this, and it's even a good idea quite often. Kellie
