If you are new to validating of volunteering in general, there are two really easy books on step 1 right now. They're short and would help you learn the basics of how to validate. Shelley has scanned several books from the Nature's Children and Learning About Cats series of books. These are children's books of around 57 pages, and they're fun for adults to read too. I worked on similar books while my arm was in a brace and found them very easy to do. Shelley read them before uploading them, so most of what you'll be doing is reading the books, looking for errors she might have missed, and learning how to navigate the validation form of step 2. I wish I'd thought about suggesting these earlier. Here are the two titles I see on step 1 right now:
