Interesting. Thanks for that,Judy. I always convert my the text of books
I'mproofing to Times New Roman but there are it's difficult to
differentiate, like what you mention, but also some spacing -- I have to
eally enlarge to see if there is a space between some words or maybe it's
the letter e I have trouble with. Anyway, I think I'll convert the next
Arial text a book is in to Tahoma -- maybe even the Times New Roman text
I'm currently working on . Thanks .

Hi Sue,

Interesting. I submit all of my own books that I proofread in Tahoma.
I've done quite a few, so I can't imagine any reason why it wouldn't be
fine to leave the font as Tahoma. Fonts like Arial or Times New Roman
aren't required, but they are easier for some people to use with certain
disabilities. But I usually use Tahoma myself, as I like its nice visual
distinction between zeros and the letter O, as well as good visual
distinction between the numeral 1 and the lower case letter l.

The Bookshare conversion tool doesn't care what the base font is when it
comes to Tahoma, Arial, Times New Roman, or less common fonts like Bookman,
Garamond etc. The DAISY books are all turned into Arial by the coding in
what's called the CSS (cascading style sheet) by Bookshare. That can be
edited, so I edit the standard CSS on all of my DAISY books to turn the
fonts into Tahoma, Garmond or Bookman Old Style as those are less fatiguing
for me to read.

Hi folks,

I downloaded a BSO and the font is Tahoma. Is it okay to leave it as Tahoma?

Thanks,
