Cindy One of the misunderstandings about .brf is that you have to know Braille to use it. You don't because the books can be translated back into text. Personally, I don't generally download the .brf version as those books don't have true pagination. But, returning to your original question, many eligible NLS patrons don't avail themselves of the Braille books in the Web Braille collection because of the mistaken notion that they have to be able to read contracted Grade II braille or own a device that can. The truth is that these can be converted, and programs such as Kurzweil's K1000 does this automatically when the book is opened.
