Get whatever Epson your ocr package supports which connects via USB. Referbs are especially good buys since the real workhorses probably cost more than anyone wants to (or usually can) lay out at any one time. If buying new, the 3170 is what's out now. There's also a Plustek bookedge scanner, but, if memory serves, it doesn't respond to resolution changes at the moment. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marissa Mika To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, October 04, 2004 2:18 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] FW: scanner Any suggestions for Mari? We use a high-speed Canon in house, so I'm not sure what flatbed suggestions to offer. -----Original Message----- From: Mari Clark [mailto:toast57@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Sunday, October 03, 2004 6:05 AM To: Bookshare.org Volunteers Subject: scanner I have been considering buying a flatbed scanner for quite awhile. I would be interested in knowing what make and model would be most useful for bookshare applications. I have a scanner that is part of a multifunction brother machine, but it is not flatbed.
