Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000105 EndHTML:0000002965 StartFragment:0000001875 EndFragment:0000002929 I can get from my library Final Acts by Alex Abella Look to the Lady by Margery Allingham Mother Nature by Sarah Andrews and Murder in Scorpio by Martha Lawrence and would be delighted to proof them. I much prefer proofing files with problems and letting others do perfect ones.. However, it might take a little while. I'm finishing one book now and sort of committed to do a few others My library has several books with the title Shamanism but not by anyone named Tom Nor does it have any books by Lucien Diver If you want me to proof them you can either put them up with a hold for me (I have 3 in my pile but soon hope to have only 2) or just put them up with a note in the comments section that the scans have problems and need to be proofed by a sighted proofer who can obtain the books from the library (or you're willing to mail them.I know of one other sighted proofer who might want to do one or more of them if she can get them from her library, but she may already have enough to do. Either I'll take them ASAP or If they are still there when I've finished the one I'm working on I'll take them.Cindy --- On Wed, 8/15/12, Madeleine Linares <Madeleinel@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Madeleine Linares <Madeleinel@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [bksvol-discuss] FW: Scanning Books To: "bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx" <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 1:59 PM Hi everyone, I received this message from a scanning volunteer. Her scans are not in great condition and she explains more below. If there are any sighted proofreaders who are interested in the books below and could possibly get the books from libraries (and she also may be able to ship them), please let me know! Thanks, Madeleine Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2012 10:57 AM To: Madeleine Linares Subject: Scanning Books Hi Madeleine, Mayrie wrote me one email with recommendations of settings to change. For some reason as I mentioned to you when I switch to two pages, it lets me scan 20 pages or so and then gives an error message. I don’t know if you have any sighted proofreaders who might want to get the books. The reason given for rejection on one of them was too many junk characters in the front of the book, but a sighted person with the book could fix that as well. Anyway, I didn’t want to clog up your system with other books that are not going to pass muster, but I wanted to give you the additional titles I’ve scanned unless you have someone interested who might want to try to work with them. The past ones were: Final Acts by Alex Abella Look to the Lady by Margery Allingham Vamped by Lucienne Diver Mother Nature by Sarah Andrews I also have: Shamanism by Tom (can’t remember his last name) Murder in Scorpio by Martha Lawrence The Tenth Saint by D.J. Niko So, if you have someone who is interested, I can submit the books. I’m really sorry it isn’t working out easier, and I don’t even know if re-installing the program would help at this point. I don’t know why the program seems to prefer one method over another, and I haven’t heard back from Mayrie after I responded to her with the fact that the two-page thing results in an error sooner rather than later. Cheers, --K
