Hi Monica , It's all Gerald's fault! He's the one who told me about it. Tom

Tom, I didn't know I could do that. This is so much nicer than running macros for tabs and then picking out extra spaces in the middle of sentences. Very cool! I was doing it the hard way. No wonder my validations were going so slowly.

Hi Monica, Does your version of word have find and replace? Have you tried finding a carrot -w and replacing with a single space? That will remove the tabs and replace them with a single space, as well as multiple spaces. On a large book, say 400 or more pages it will take several minutes, sometimes up to four or five. It will tell you when it's done how many replacements were made. On a four hundred page book expect about 150,000 replacements. the reason for this is that every white space character is checked.
