Wow! Thanks, Monica! This is one of the times that makes me think, I wish
I had thought of that! (smile)

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Excited About Our Wish List

Hi, everybody. I was looking over our wish list earlier today and was
feeling overwhelmed at how long it is. Then I looked at a copy of the
list I'd saved from eight months ago, and I saw something really cool.
I started to feel excited instead. It's not obvious, but there are
several volunteers who have been steadily working on submitting and
validating wish list requests over the past year. I began to count the
wishes volunteers have filled, and they really do add up. I lost count
after 60 books, and I know there are more. I was only a third of the
way down the list, in the nonfiction section. I stopped feeling so
discouraged and began to feel thankful and excited about what we're
doing here.

There are several volunteers who have scanned or validated multiple
books from the wish list, and I want to thank each of them. I don't
know everyone's name who has helped, especially among the validaters.
By listing the ones I do know, I want you to see what a small,
committed, passionate group can do. This group of people is meeting
the wants and needs of Bookshare members and is making a positive
difference. Gary, Amber W., Mayrie, Robert T, Robert R., Jamie, Donna,
Barbara, Scott, Judy, Shannon, Laura Ann, Louise, Lora, Maithe, Linda,
Larry, Mike, Lissi, Natasha, Grace, David, Lisa J., Jim B. Shelley,
and Anastasia provided books and either scanned them or mailed them to
the Bookshare office. Sue S., Susan, Lisa B., Lori, Ann, Jill, Judy,
Marilyn, Mickey, Allison, Tracy, Elizabeth, Dixie, Bob, Cindy W.,
Grandma Cindy, Lissi, Jim B., and Gail have worked tirelessly to
validate these books.

I wish I had the ability to give each of you a gold medal for your
service. If you know someone who helped with the wish list work,
please let me know so I can thank them too. It's tough to recognize
our validaters since they aren't listed anywhere.

I want each of you to know that I think you're special. You use your
time, effort, and passion to serve Bookshare's members, and I'm glad I
get the chance to work with you. (smile) You spend time working on
books that others want to read, sometimes putting aside your own
reading for awhile. Every time you work to fill a wish list request,
you make Bookshare look good by giving readers what they want to read.
Good job, folks!
