I've never tried to use EBay. I'm a little afraid of PayPal. How did you
arrange the finances, the purchase?

  Hi Jacjie:
I recently picked up an epson 1660 on ebay for my girlfriend. She wanted to
volunteer for bookshare so I figured getting her a fast quality scanner was a
good start. (smile)

On a side note, my sister has an 1670 at work which she refuses to use. it
averages 53 seconds a scan, and well when your used to scanning with a ferrari
you don't want to scan by horseback. (smile)
(there are 4 available on ebay now)

I was looking for the Epson 1660 scanner discussed in July on this list. I
found Epson perfection 1650 and Epson Perfection 1670. Each is $69,
refurbished. Are those okay substitutes for the Epson 1660? Nobody mentioned
the work Perfection, and these are photo scanners, so I wasn't sure. Please
help.
