FYI, Microsoft Word and Omnipage both call these hyphins "optional" hyphins and not soft hyphins. They are typically added to preserve the look and feel of the originall page but word recognizes the word(s) that contain this type of hyphin as a full word and not a split word. I'm glad it worked. This should solve your problem. Let us know if it doesn't. I am assuming this is also true for the Bookshare automated dictionary. I did try replacing all dashes with nothing as you suggested; this works well for words which should not be split. Thanks for your response. Munawar A. I do it manually as I go along. Possibly replacing a hyphen space with nothing would eliminate them without also removing hyphens that belong between words or compound phrases.
