I agree with Sue, too. With fourteen books on the admin queue, I'm wondering
why I work so hard if no one gets to see my work. Granted, I get to see
books I might not see, but this is a high price to pay.
I was on the staff of a nonprofit organization for 17-1/2 years. One of the
major goals, besides fund-raising, should be to keep the volunteers having a
feeling of purpose. That just doesn't hapeen when books are on the step-1
page or in the admin queue for months.
Every now and again--not as often as I should--I take a book that bores me
silly--because it needs to be done. But then it just sits.
Sue is making valid points, and the only way to make an organization better
is to voice valid criticism. You go, girl!
Mickey
Wonder why any time anyone says anything besides I luv you all, and bookshare is the most wonderful thing since sliced bread, they get some childish accusation or other.
I doubt that sue has a hair trigger temper. She's just like most females, highly opinionated.
Gwaun, Sue,
Ernie

Woe, come on now! This is getting a bit ridiculous Sue. Consider for ayou
minute if you were one of these new employees. Would you like to be
essentially thrown to the wolves and left to fend for yourself? Or wouldrather receive some initial guidance to jump start your job? If you prefera
the latter, then think about who may well be administering this training,
Gustavo. If he is in fact doing so, this would logically mean that he has
less time to approve books. I would guess that things will pick back up inmonth or two once everyone has established their role and knows what todo, toand the most efficient way to get things done.
And another thing, where did you get "mid May" from? Gustavo deserves a vacation just like the rest of us, and if he's gone for just a week, as Janice indicated, then he'll be back well before "mid May".
Bookshare has clearly been understaffed for some time now. They are remedying that situation, let's respect that and give them some sort of chance.
Scott
