Hi. Yes, this is helpful. However it still doesn't directly address the
issue I raised. I suppose the policy could be interpreted to say that
quotes from other sources can be included if they are part of the original
book as long as it is clear that they are quotes. However now you bring up
a different issue which I admit I've been guilty of many times. Validators
need to be sure to make it clear that the long synopsis is from the book
according to the below. I will be more careful about this in future. Many
long synopses don't say that they are from the actual book text. Of course
the best way is to paraphrase from elsewhere but many people including me
don't do well at that. Thanks for posting this.

Here is what we have been told in the past regarding placing bookjacket information in sinopsis fields. If the information provides sufficient data to enable users to understand a book's content, the dust jacket information may be included as a part of the field. However make sure that you attribute the fact that the information in your sinopsis is derived from the dust jacket. This is what I frequently do. The dust jacket information is a part of the original book and may be included. You should be careful to include other quoted material in sinopsis fields. While these pages may exist as a part of the entire text, it is still derived from other places. Sinopsis fields cannot include material from sources such as "Amazon.com or www.bn.com. You are also able to create your own sinopsis. It is perfectly acceptable to quote material from other sources (with proper attribution) if you are writing book reviews on the site.
