Hi, the books that I wanted to add just simply don't have a copyright or publication date anywhere on them. Someone suggested that there's a form that the author could sign giving permission to ut the books up but I had sent an e-mail to info@bookshare to see if there's information I could send to the author to get that permission or if bookshare needed to send out the information. Our legal requirement under Section 121 is "include a copyright notice identifying the copyright owner and the date of the original publication." Usually, this is on a front matter page. If we don't have either, we can't put it up on Bookshare.org. I'm wondering if there is another acceptable way to track this information down if it's not in the book itself. Of course, the usual reason we reject books as lacking copyright is because the person scanning the book didn't scan that page. In such cases, going back and scanning the copyright page and adding it back into the file is the only reasonable solution if that book is available. But, I found this corner case interesting and worth a little more investigation.
