Mike's exactly right. I simply forwarded part of the the automatic receipt so
everyone would know that the book is now available. I added a comment after
the receipt, I signed my name, I thought it was clear, but I guess not. I
won't forward receipts again, since it caused some confusion.

Out of curiosity, which mail client are Elizabeth and Jill using?
Wondering if they are the same program and they are somehow separating
Carrie's msg from the forward and ending up as separate msgs in the inbox.
