It does not have to be cut up, but some people do because that makes for a cleaner and better scan. I cringe at the idea of cutting up a book myself. Cindy was offering to proofread it for you, not scan it. She can speak for herself, but I don't think she has the capability of scanning the book. The process is for one volunteer to scan it and then submit it to the checkout list where another volunteer checks it out by downloading it and then proofreads it before submitting it for approval. The charts and graphs you mention are going to make this one a difficult book to scan and to proofread. Personally, I will bow out because of this. My blindness and my scanning software and hardware make that kind of thing almost impossible for me. There are some others here who might have the expertise, though. Since you want to have it turned into a Bookshare ebook for you I suppose your own ability to participate in that process is limited too, but if you registered as a volunteer and could scan it I expect that some other volunteer would proofread it for you.

Cindy,

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your willingness to help. I am also sighted but the print keeps getting smaller and smaller and it is more and more difficult for me to do things close up and to read. My comprehension improves very significantly when a document is read to me. I think I have had some level of increasing dyslexia as I have aged.

I don’t know, but I understand the book has to be cut up to be processed. That is perfectly all right.

If it is possible, I would be most grateful if you would please save the pieces for me and send them to me so I can have them reassembled if possible for reference or so I will at least have the pictures, graphs, and diagrams.

The book has 399 pages with many photographs, charts, and diagrams. I don’t know if it is possible, but if those non-text items (pictures, graphs, and diagrams) could be reproduced in large form that would be tremendously helpful to me.

Just having the text in an audiobook format would be marvelous.

I will work on locating a copy of the book. It is Long out of print and is somewhat of a collectors item.

What quality level of books do you need? It seems unlikely that having the dust jacket or the cover being perfect condition is important.

Please advise me so I may do that which is optimal and effective.

Appreciatively,

Bob
