I believe in keeping it for integrity, but, for stuff my scanner desiced to
misspell like "teal for real" and let me see, tny for my, I will definitely
be fixing those.
After all I can't see the print edition to check.
The Gump series by Winston Groom, was one such book where I fixed particular
things as they had to be scannos and left others as they were obviously
dialect.

Of course, as Guido says, books that have deliberately
mis-spelled words to indicate character, dialect,
English spelling, etc., should be left alone. But if I
see a word that is obviously mis-spelled, and this has
happened only occasionally, I assume that it's been
overlooked in the proofreading by the editor and was
not intended by the author, and I have corrected it.
Likewise, I have done the same thing, *very
carefully,* considering the intent of the author, the
characterization of the characters, etc., with some
grammatical errors.
(O.K., Guido and Prat, now you can roundly scold me
and I'll apologize and say I won't do it again -- but
who will know?)
