HI Charisma! Oh, thanks so much for all of this info! I'll start working on this as soon as it comes in the mail, and after one really thick book I've got to scan tomorrow while I listen to the Indy 500 and later the Coke 600. Then I'll get to the NASCAR book! Thanks tons and tons for all of your really, really helpful educating me of what to expect! Mayrie, The other thing besides cartoons are the bullets alongside the pages. Some are normal bullets like closed circles. Some are open squares. But--and here is the ugh part--some are a sort of icons. Usually the icons in idiot books are things like faces, a bullseye, a hand, a stop sign, stuff like that. They scan--at least with my OCR--as pix or garbled text, and you can't anticipate for them. I am interested to see how you'll annotate these; each type stands for a different type of info. For instance one icon would be to help you remember an important point, one would be to tell you to pay particular attention, one might be to point out some sort of mistake you could make at this point, one might be an interesting historical fact, etc. I have not read an idiot book in awhile so I can't quite remember. Oh, and when you scan it be sure to scan the fold-out thicker page (might be laminated) on either the front or back cover. Those have overall notes for the reader, sort of like a summary and sometimes a short glossary, almost always some sort of illustration. You might not want to include them in the scan, although they are part of the book's charm, but for yourself they are pretty handy. smile Now you have me drooling over this. When ya gonna start! lol Charisma To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
