-I've just submitted Briar Rose, by Jane Yolen. It's
on the OCPS Recommended Reading list that Tami and her
colleagues compiled, listed as 9th-grade reading level
(Tami, that will soon be on bookshare). It's part of
Terri Windling's Fairy Tale series in which,
apparently, various authors take the theme of a fairy
tale and create a modern story. This one takes the
protagonist to Poland where she learns about the
horrors of concentration camps and extermination camps
in the course of trying to find out about her
grandmother's earlier life.
