I suspect Evan is right. However, I have seen books with symbols, like 
asterisks and accented letters, not have them show properly in brf files. By 
which I mean they appeared as code (numbers and letters that tell the computer 
what the symbol is). If I’m remembering correctly, this happened mostly in 
publisher quality books.

 

If you’re very concerned, make a note in the comments section when you put up 
the file.

I’m pretty sure the tilde will translate correctly in braille.

I can’t recall the last time I saw it, (probably in a long web address in some 
book or other), but I think it will show up okay.

Certainly if I am mistaken, someone will chime in here to straighten me out.

That's true unless it is in a web site, when it is written in computer 

braille and is dots 2-3-4-5.
