Hey Dan,

This is absolutely a fantastic project! And congratulations to the young
scout willing to take this on as a Eagle Scout Project.

Indeed the last scout to do the Eagle Scout was the Thoroughbred Legends
series which was fantastic smile.

But congratulations!

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Boy Scout meritbadge booklets are coming

Hi all,

First I want to apologize for not getting the next "The Work and the Glory"
book done. I also want to apologize for not getting the Financial Peace
Revisited by Dave Ramsey completed. I have had major time shortages due to
work and family.

Now, I had talked some time ago about doing the meritbadge booklets. One of
the scouts in the troop I work with has decided to get them ready for
submition to Bookshare as his Eagle project. We have now started and I am
having to teach a dozen or more folks how to do the clean up and preparation
of the files.

I will start submitting the files to Bookshare over the next week or 2. I
would appreciate any effort the community could spend on these. I'd like to
be able to report to the scout on the progress of the submitions.

Each of these files will be easy validations of 50 to 150 pages. The
booklets are smaller page sizes than most regular books so there is less
text involved. I will be doing my own validation before submitting them so
they will be very clean.

We are all rather excited about this young man's project. It will have far
greater impact than most Eagle projects.

I understand that another scout has done his Eagle project by submitting
books to Bookshare. However, this is the first time the meritbadge booklets
have been submitted to Bookshare other than the one I submitted myself a few
months ago.

To tell the truth, I had to go through a good deal of effort to get this
approved by the Boy Scout national office. I was rather surprised at the
resistance I found. However, once we got past the front line of the office
we have found that the rest of the staff there are bending over backwards to
see that we have all the materials we need.

Thanks for any effort you can spend on this.
