Dear Pavi, Jim, Anne, Grand Cindy and Booksharian Friends,
Pavi, I'm so pleased that you recognized my lyrics as the tribute to
Bookshare volunteers that I meant them to be. As for being in Jim's blog,
I'm...ah shucks...speechless.
Cindy, Thanks for making sure Anne wasn't calling me bad names!
Anne, Thank you for the kind words.Your instincts were right that I'd
recognize your reference to filking. Once a Trekker! Live long and prosper!
Monica, Evan and Mayrie, your recent posts are examples of the kind of
practical help that was in the mix of inspiration as I was writing. I'm not
ready for a black belt for scanning yet, though I'm proud of the pink
shoestring I've earned so far.
And to everyone who took time to let me know you liked the lyrics I wrote
about you,how touching. Many thanks. You show, as we see every day, how much
heart is on the Bookshare lists.

Hi all,
Um, I was thinking about my compliments to Lissi, and I realized that
maybe some of you looked at my message and grumped, "What's wrong with
her? Can't she spell or what? What does she mean filking?"
I should have explained. Filking is taking a well-known song, usually a
folk song, and putting new words to it. It's a term that came out of
Science Fiction convention lore. Again, sorry for not explaining before.
I'm usually more careful than that. I figure Lissi knew what I meant, or
if she didn't Evan did. However, that didn't take in the rest of you.
