Hi All,

Sandi and I have been working on an omnibus that contains three separate books in one printed volume. The printed book is unusual in that it retained the original page numbering for each of the three novels it contains. The page numbering goes from page 1 to page 174 for the first book. Then, instead of continuing on sequentially with the page numbering at the start of the second book in the omnibus, the page numbering starts over from page 1, and then this pattern repeats for book three. We were concerned that the Bookshare conversion tools wouldn't correctly recognize page numbering beyond the first book because of this, and would instead treat the second and third sets of page numbers as duplicates.

Bookshare staff weren't sure what would happen either. So we submitted the book and crossed our fingers.

I'm happy to report that the book did convert correctly, retaining all the page numbering and page breaks. Yay!

So this is a new piece of information for all us scanners and proofreaders. In the rare case where a book contains page numbering that repeats itself sequentially, like in this book, the conversion tool will correctly find and maintain all page numbers and page breaks.
