Hi Andy,

I did a bad. And mentioned it in a message just a second ago. Those links
will be available to you once you are approved as a volunteer. You will
see them then. And if you don't after being approved, let us know, and
I'll give you exact instructions of where to find links on each page.

Mayrie

Hi Andy,

Oh, yes, you do have access to all of those lists! You just don't know
that you do. Sorry I didn't tell you how to find them.

On the Bookshare web site, from the home page, if you go to Volunteer Home,
you will then be able to look for the check out a book link, or the books
in process link. On the books in process page is a link for books awaiting
administrative approval. The list of books in process somewhere by
bookshare staff or outsourcers is on the wiki here:

https://wiki.benetech.org/download/attachments/17268805/0528.txt

 Hope this all helps.

Mayrie

I don't have access to all of those lists. I checked the in process list,
the collection for members and the wishlist. None of those books are there.
I know I will be able to at least get the Martha series done in the next
month or so.

Hi Andy,

Not all books will show up on the books in process list. It's tedious, but
the places I check before scanning a book are the collection itself, to
make sure that the book isn't already available for patrons to read, the
check out a book page, in case the book is awaiting a proofreader, the
books in process page which shows books out for proofreading, the approval
queue which shows books that have been proofread but are just awaiting
administrative approval to be added to the collection, and the page on the
wiki that shows all books planning to be processed either by bookshare
staff, or by other volunteers. Yes, it's a lot of places to look before
scanning a book. And yes, it can get tedious. And thankfully, Bookshare
is working on allowing us, some day, to be able to do one search and find a
book either in the collection, or in process somewhere by someone. So,
take heart, the tediousness is not forever. I try to look only when I have
a book in hand that I'm thinking of scanning, or before purchasing a book.
What I'm saying is that I try not to plan scads of books to scan that may
take me a long time to get to, or to acquire, because, by the time I
actually have the book in hand, or am able to scan it, it may well have
been added by someone else. Not terribly heartening, I know, but it is
wonderful that we have so many folks working on so many books all the time!

Happy scanning.

Mayrie

Why couldn't I find any of them in the in process list? There has to be a
better way...

Some of these are already in the collection. I think there are two people
scanning. I've proof read several by Karieg.

I am interested in scanning the following books. Right now, I am working on
the Martha series. I don't know how long it will take to scan all of the
books below, but can someone put my name next to all of them in the
official list of books being scanned? A lot of it will depend on how many
checkout terms I have to wait to get them if I have to put a hold on them,
but I will do them all.

Books about Martha Morse, Laura’s great-grandmother, by Melissa Wiley:

        Little House in the Highlands

Celia Wilkins:

        Little House in Brookfield
Little Town at the Crossroads
