Dear Booksharian Friends,

It happened when I was minding my own business, dutifully validating a book
about Mary Queen of Scots. The little French prince was about to see his Queen
Mother when I read, and I quote,

The two stared at one another, until François came in and shrieked, "Martian!"
and ran to her.

I just love funny scannos. The Martian is supposed to be the french word for
mama, Maman.

In the next few pages, this scanno appeared several more times to humorous
effect! hahehehahah!

Spell check and rank spelling are nearly indispensable tools, but nothing beats
a combination of spell checking and proofreading.

For fun, I keep a list of unusual scannos that have appeared in books I'm
validating which are true words so a spell checker wouldn't point them out.

Here are some other examples.

Easter for Faster

Ken I for Keri

Be for he

Unfired for untired

Nearly neatly

dose close

ear for car

pore for pom

These are scannos I've collected from my validating and from scannos sent to
the list by volunteers starting with Shelley Rhodes' famous

The two stared at one another, until François came in and shrieked, "Martian!"
and ran to her.
