Hi Cindy, knowing how much of a bear that book was to scan in the first place I am really glad that you did include the picture descriptions. I love reading photo captions and descriptions when i can get them, smile.

I will be dowloading this book!

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Book finally added to collection

at *long last,, Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty (2nd edition) by Peter Collier , has been added to the collection. It took me a long
time to proof it and an equally long time for it to be approved--probably
because the book is so long and because I made a mistake of including stuff that maybe I shouldn't have, and so the administrators. I want to Susan Lumpkin for editing my descriptions of the full-page photos so that they are more readable than when I wrote them, and also for asking questions that made me realize that some things that I took for granted that everyone knew many people not as old as I or in the military wouldn't know. In the process of looking up a lot of
terms and places,we both learned a lotl

Too late, I realized that it wasn't necessary for me to described every photo,
and I shall be more circumpect in the future. Because I started writing
descriptions when I was proofing childen's books, or providing them for scanners
of those books, I was imbued with the idea that those of you who are blind
should "see" what I see, but I realize that is not really necessary. As a
sighted reader, I would skip over the snapshots and might otrmight not look at the full-page photos; I' look at most of them them briefly, maybe llook some that were of particular slighlty longer, but it I eally shouldn't have interrupted
the text with the descriptions. My advice to you is to read the stories of
heroism, which are really interetsing, and to skip the photo descriptions.
