Wow! That's great! It just goes to show that some authors truly do care and will help if they understand what the purpose is. Good for you. Take care. So I haven't gotten an email from the author Nick Hornby, who I asked to email me his new book when I met him at a book signing, but I've been to another signing since. I've already submitted the book A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (pronounced Fry) to the site, but I went to a reading of his new sequel to that book, My Friend Leonard. I got my print copy of the book signed and gave him the same spiel as I'd given to Nick Hornby about giving his book to bookshare. He did not hesitate, but gave me his personal email address (not the one on his site that anyone can write to), and asked me to email him and remind him of where I'd met him and what the request was. The reading was on July 5th, I emailed him the next day, and today I received a reply! He attached the acknowledgements, the epigram and the text of the book to the email! I will need to put them together into one file and scan in any missing copyright pages and such, and I'd like to give it a read-through to check it out, but then I will submit and validate it. I'm so glad that I now know that some authors will be willing to do this! While I'm putting it all together, may I highly suggest that everyone read A Million Little Pieces (if I haven't done so before)? It is an amazing memoir, and truly makes me look at the world in a new way, and gives me a new determination life. Sounds weird, I know, but read it and you may understand. Do not read it, however, if you disapprove of books containing adult content. Sorry for the lengthy message, Eliza
