Does anyone remember downloading and reading Bertrice
Small's historical novel Beloved? Maybe I only read it
myself and didn't validate it. If that's the case, it
would be nice if someone would scan it. It's not part
of any series but is a wonderful historical novel,
based on a real person, Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra, and
although the romantic and sexy parts are fictional,
the historical parts, including her husbands, sons,
and conquests, are real. It's set in the third
century, when Syria (Palmyra was part of Syria) was
part of the eastern Roman Empire.

Any fan of Small's or a person who wants to read
historical fiction of that period and place will enjoy
this book, though those not familiar with Small's
writing should be warned that there are usual sex
scenes tastefully described--and that period of time
had quite a bit of brutality. The rape scene early in
the novel is pretty hard to take, but it formed
Zenobia's attitudes toward the Romans. (Zenobia manes
Beloved). If no one else takes it to validate, if it
gets scanned, and it sits on the download list for a
while, I'll do it myself. smile
